A 62-year-old Suffolk man has been charged with setting fire to his house last week in the rural northern part of the city.

Michael Lee Moring was arrested today and is charged with arson of an occupied dwelling. Moring owns the house and was the only one home at the time of the blaze, according to a city news release.

Crews responded shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday to a two-story home in the 3500 block of Knott’s Neck Road. No injuries were reported. The fire destroyed the home, according to the release.
