It was opening day last Saturday for Chesterfield Historical Society of VA’s newest exhibit “Firefighting in Chesterfield County: the Original Thirteen Departments.”  Inspired by author David Creasy’s book “Chesterfield Fire Department, The Original Thirteen Departments” and his collection of fire apparatus and gear. The exhibit located in the 1892 Old Jail will run through next October.

Creasy began his long career with the Chesterfield County Fire Department as a volunteer with the Ettrick Volunteer Fire Department in the ‘70s. His interest in collecting old fire apparatus and equipment started when he discovered a 1928 hose cart buried in the Ettrick Fire Station.
