The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) celebrates its 40th anniversary on May 20. In honor of this occasion, a new publication providing a retrospective of the organization was released at the NVFC spring board meeting on May 6.
The publication provides a look at how the NVFC has served the volunteer fire and emergency services over the past 40 years as well as how the volunteer emergency services themselves have changed in that time period. Article topics include an overview of the last four decades in fire service, a history of the NVFC, legislative initiatives, health and safety, recruitment and retention, and training, among others.
