A Georgia man has been charged with reckless driving after an accident Wednesday on Interstate 77 that totaled a Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department fire truck.

According to Virginia State Police Trooper J.R. Alderman, the accident occurred at 8 a.m. on Interstate 77 in Carroll County near Fancy Gap. Alderman said a 2009 GMC Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department truck was sitting stationary in the emergency crossover lane at the 9.2 mile marker on I-77 preparing to respond to another crash that had occurred at the 11.5 mile marker on I-77 Northbound. A 2013 Honda Civic driven by Christopher Adams, 27, of Mount Airy, Ga., was traveling southbound on I-77 when vehicles in front of him started to hit the brakes, Alderman said.
