Need more volunteers for your fire departments? The FY 2017 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) application period will be open from March 26-April 27. These grants can be used to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters or to hire paid firefighters.

To help you get ready, the NVFC has posted a recording of its webinar “Enhancing Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Using SAFER Grant Funding.” This webinar, recorded live on March 20, presents the application requirements for the grant program, as well as identifies best practices for the management of a grant award.
